AMH conveys savings to Menzies

AMH Services Ltd has driven savings of around 70% in the cost of maintaining and servicing the conveyor equipment across the Menzies Distribution network. 

“Taking a ‘value driven’ approach to maintenance enables us to achieve an optimised use of resource, ensuring each hour of maintenance time results in a tangible benefit whilst reducing breakdowns,”  says AMH managing director, Spencer Roberts. “Too often maintenance is delivered on a purely ‘time-based’ interval, regardless of the condition of the plant. This inevitably leads to wastage in maintenance time with no visible benefit.”

Buytrago equips Madrid DC with new Vitronic ID system

Efficiency conscious Buytrago, a leading Spanish express delivery and transport services provider, has equipped its Madrid distribution centre with Vitronic’s camera-based VIPAC identification system. It allows the site to sort parcels for dispatch automatically at high speed, and deliver them to customers on time.

Buytrago employs more than 1,600 workers and offers a wide range of services, including next day delivery, temperature controlled delivery for shipping perishable goods, and postal insurance. It operates over 60 hubs, which distribute mail to people in their local areas. Madrid is the largest of these.

We usually associate the term ‘lean’ with either a faraway wish following a particularly excessive holiday, or a best practice approach to production. However, in these extreme financial conditions, I challenge you to extend the definition to include the service of your mechanical handling equipment.
