EPAL’s world pallet warning
EPAL has warned that World pallets are not exchangeable in its European Pallet Pool, following reports that they are appearing in the UK market.
Earlier this year, the German district court of Erfurt prohibited Falkenhahn AG from offering or selling wooden flat pallets carry the branding ‘World’ in an oval shape (reference number Az. 3 O 987/08), a mark that has a similar appearance to the ‘EUR’ and ‘EPAL’ trademark symbols – also in an oval - which have been used on EPAL Euro pallets for many years.
Spreadsheet management needs to change says Equipment Tracking Ltd
Equipment Tracking Ltd says managing pallet pools through stand alone spreadsheet software are losing thousands of pounds.
According to one leading software company, spreadsheet management is dated, time inefficient and lacks the power of integration to effectively track and collate pallet/delivery information.
Eco-Cap saves time and money
Hayley Shirley, former pallet distribution manager and Staffordshire inventor whose 62p cardboard cone has saved the international handling industry an estimated £40m in damaged stock, has now launched a new version that is claimed to be even more cost-effective than before.
The highly visible, yellow Palletcap has sold in its thousands, winning a clutch of awards and becoming a familiar sight in warehouses worldwide.
Automated pallet exchanger installed by Paynes Pallet Inverters
A fully automated pallet exchanger from Payne Pallet Inverters is raising productivity and safety standards at Alliance Boots’ Stores Service Centre (SSC) in Nottingham.
Part of a three-year transformation of the Boots supply chain through the centralisation of its retail warehousing, the facility features two main warehouses which have been reconfigured through the installation of an extensive automated handling system.
J&M Storage Systems reaps rewards from second-hand pallet racking
Handling and distribution companies are putting more of an emphasis on the bottom line when purchasing their pallet racking, with many of them turning to second-hand pallet racking. One company that seems to be benefitting from this trend is J&M Storage Systems, a family-run business with more than 25 years’ proven track record in the industry.
J&M Storage Systems is considered as a market leader in quality used pallet racking, drive-in racking and steel shelving. The company says it prides itself in supplying only the highest quality used racking from leading manufacturers, which includes Link 51 (the most widely used system in UK warehouses), Apex, Dexion and Redirack. When the used pallet racking arrives at J&M Storage Systems’ 80,000ft2 warehouse in Yorkshire, they are put through strict quality control and ensure that they are re-sold in excellent condition.
