Lofting and Fritzsche collect FLTA gongs
The 2010 FLTA Awards for Excellence took place at its annual dinner & dance, and Albury Asset Rentals' Kevin Lofting and Jungheinrich's Günter Fritzsche each received recognition of their service to the industry.
Kevin Lofting, who retired from Albury at the end of last year, founded Albury Asset Rentals, and helmed it through thick and thin to become the leading force it is today in the world of capital equipment financing. He was also the first man (in 1994) to step forward and sponsor the inaugural FLTA Awards, so it is fitting that he himself should walk off with the FLTA Lifetime Achievement Award - the highest honour the materials handling industry can bestow - at the end of his career.
ShD e-auction deadline approaches
The latest ShD Materials Handling Auction in due to close on Wednesday 3rd March at 14.00GMT. Potential bidders are being asked to visit the dedicated GoIndustry DoveBid auction website to register their interest in the sale.
The sale features a variety of surplus materials handling equipment from verified sellers, including counterbalance electric forklifts from Daewoo, Nissan, Lansing Linde, Hyster, Yale, TCM & OM Pimespo, and a Boss diesel counterbalance.LPG variants from Bendi, Caterpillar, Yale, Clark, Hyster & OM Pimespo also feature in the sale.

IMHX to showcase innovative FMCG solutions
The International Materials Handling Exhibition (IMHX) will take place at the NEC from 16-19 November. Held only once every three years, it is a must-see event for logistics professionals. IMHX traditionally draws thousands of visitors from the retail and FMCG sectors, giving them the opportunity to see handling and storage products and services from over 300 exhibitors – all under one roof.
Independent management consultancy Total Logistics (stand 19L72) specialises in all aspects of commercial supply chains. Leading FMCG companies – including Nestlé, Adidas, Unilever and Argos – have turned to the company for highly efficient, practical and robust solutions to their supply chain issues, from strategy definition to implementation and project management. Following a successful project for TK Maxx, Total Logistics designed a revised European supply chain strategy for its parent company TJX Group, enabling expansion whilst delivering cost savings of more than 15%. In the most recent of many projects completed for Asda, Total Logistics devised a distribution infrastructure capable of supporting projected business volumes to 2020. IMHX 2010 to host AMHSA pavilion
The Automated Material Handling Systems Association (AMHSA) and IMHX 2010 organiser Quartz have revealed that the show will feature a special pavilion for automated handling system suppliers.
Taking place at the NEC, Birmingham, from 16 – 19 November, the International Materials Handling Exhibition (IMHX) is the undisputed leader in UK logistics events, ably demonstrated by the fact that exhibitor space at the show is over 70% sold already. With the event co-owned by BITA (British Industrial Truck Association), IMHX has always had a large core of support from the materials handling equipment (MHE) sector but the show has also attracted increasing numbers of automated handling exhibitors, as well as software providers and consultancy firms.
