HSE director to speak at forklift safety conference
The Fork Lift Truck Association (FLTA) has confirmed a strong line-up of speakers for its National Fork Lift Truck Safety Conference, which takes place on 22nd September at Warwick University.
The Association has made additional seats available to cope with anticipated demand for the event, switching to a larger venue after last year’s conference sold out in record time.
Automated materials handling to be promoted through AMHSA pavilion at IMHX
Of the 300 exhibitors that will participate in IMHX 2010 at the NEC from 16 to 19 November, almost 10% will be members of the Automated Material Handling Systems Association (AMHSA).
Recognising the increasing importance of automated logistics systems in the modern supply chain, the organisers of IMHX have created a special AMHSA pavilion for the first time in the show’s history. With the event being co-owned by the British Industrial Truck Association, IMHX has always had a large core of support from the manual handling sector but in recent years the exhibition has attracted increasing numbers of automated handling exhibitors, as well as software providers and consultancy firms.
Deadline approaches for Design 4 Safety Awards
An initiative being rolled out across IMHX 2010 (NEC Birmingham, 16-19 November) for the first time is an awards programme for the handling and storage industry, designed to highlight the importance of product design in improving safety standards.
Jointly organised by IMHX co-owners Quartz Publishing & Exhibitions and BITA (the British Industrial Truck Association), the Design 4 Safety Awards are open to all 300+ anticipated exhibitors at IMHX 2010.
New location for FLTA Awards
The Forklift Truck Association has revealed the date and location for its Annual Awards for Excellence 2011.
The fork truck industry’s premier annual event is moving to the King Suite of the Hilton Metropole Hotel, Birmingham on Saturday 12th February 2011. Announcing the move, FLTA chief executive David Ellison said, “We are delighted to be back at the Metropole. With its central location, it offers easy access for guests from all over the UK and its proximity to Birmingham International Airport will allow easy access for our overseas visitors.
ShD’s World Cup wallchart giveaway
The 2010 World Cup is nearly upon us. To mark the occasion, ShD has produced a wallchart that will help you plot the progress of the teams all the way through to the final in Johannesburg on 11th July.
With all the dates, times and locations, the wallchart is designed to show just who will be playing whom once they get out of those tricky group matches.
Pre-show visitor survey very positive for IMHX
Having commissioned research among IMHX visitors, the show’s organisers are delighted that the event is overwhelmingly viewed as the place to see innovative products and services, and that a large majority of visitors are planning to purchase new handling equipment or logistics services either next year or in 2012.
Asked whether they and/or their colleagues planned to attend IMHX 2010, over 80% of respondents answered positively – almost 58% said that they would definitely be attending, with a further 23% stating they were likely to attend. An impressive two-thirds of respondents agreed that IMHX is the best place to find new suppliers of logistics and materials handling equipment.
