Fork truck industry optimistic that IMHX is timed right for recovery
The UK’s forklift industry is welcoming signs that the economy will improve later this year.
After months of doom and gloom in the UK’s media, the end of January saw headlines proclaiming that the country was officially out of recession. According to the recently published annual Plimsoll Report, the UK’s buffeted forklift market is slowly emerging from the turmoil. With the material handling industry’s leading exhibition, IMHX, having been voted by exhibitors last summer to move from March to November 2010, companies participating in the show look set to capitalise on the improving economic climate.
Lofting and Fritzsche collect FLTA gongs
The 2010 FLTA Awards for Excellence took place at its annual dinner & dance, and Albury Asset Rentals' Kevin Lofting and Jungheinrich's Günter Fritzsche each received recognition of their service to the industry.
Kevin Lofting, who retired from Albury at the end of last year, founded Albury Asset Rentals, and helmed it through thick and thin to become the leading force it is today in the world of capital equipment financing. He was also the first man (in 1994) to step forward and sponsor the inaugural FLTA Awards, so it is fitting that he himself should walk off with the FLTA Lifetime Achievement Award - the highest honour the materials handling industry can bestow - at the end of his career.
