FTA report focuses on state of logistics

The annual report brings together research and analysis from the Freight Transport Association and PwC, and will be launched by FTA's chief executive Theo de Pencier.

CI Logistics completes South African contract

The recently completed contract is for a trolley conveyor which has now been installed in Defy’s Ezakheni factory in Ladysmith.

National Grid to sell 1m sq ft logistics site

national-grid.jpgA 1m sq ft Greater Manchester logistics site is to be sold as the supply of good modern warehouses continues to tighten.

National Grid is to sell the 67-acre Voltage Park site at Partington, close to the highly favoured Trafford Park industrial estate and junction 21 of the M6 motorway, and to both the M60 orbital motorway and M56 Chester to Manchester Airport  link.

Ceva ensures marathon runners reclaim bags

london-marathon.jpgCEVA Logistics played a part in the smooth running of the 32nd Virgin London Marathon on Sunday 22nd April, by taking care of and reuniting 35,000 runners with their belongings.

When tens of thousands of competitors sprinted across the finish line at The Mall, they faced one final obstacle, to find their kit bag. Luckily for them, CEVA and a group of volunteers were responsible for transporting the bags once again, collecting them from the three start points and ensuring they were easy to find at the finish line.

Online route planning tool launched for Olympics

Olympic_online_route_tool.pngLondon councils, speaking at the recent ‘Get Set for 2012’ Freight Planning Conference, have stressed the urgent need for hauliers to check if their current approved routes are still valid and if they need updating to cope with the disruption to London’s roads during July and August.

To help deal with the changes, London councils suggested companies follow a six point plan, including checking existing routes for validity, mapping those against the variations to the scheme and checking the dates when variations will be in place.

DHL to provide support to Irish Paralympics team

DHL_hub.jpgLeading logistics company, DHL has announced that it is to be the “Offical Logistics Partner” to the 2012 Irish Paralympics Team.

DHL Global Forwarding, the cargo end of the company, will provide full logistics support to the Irish Team at the London 2012 Paralympics this August, moving more than 100 pieces of equipment to the training camp in Portugal, before transporting the equipment back to London ahead of the official games.
