IMHX 2013 set to be stronger than ever
With the International Materials Handling Exhibition (IMHX) now exactly a year away, the show’s organisers and co-owners – Informa Exhibitions and the British Industrial Truck Association (BITA) – are delighted with the quantity and quality of exhibitors it has attracted.
Says Rob Fisher, director of Informa’s Materials Handling Group, "Our floor plan now features all the big names and with over 80% of the available space allocated IMHX 2013 is shaping up to be another fantastic show. We are planning a number of new and exciting visitor initiatives which includes increasing the level of content provided for visitors with via a series of hard-hitting seminars and a dedicated conference programme."
Briggs’ warehouse software is useful business tool
Briggs Equipment UK Ltd is launching a futuristic 3D virtual reality warehouse simulation solution designed to enable food manufacturers and logistics providers to explore different approaches and strategies for warehouse operations and to make more informed business decisions before committing to them.
The virtual simulation chair and software is part of Briggs' 'Warehouse Solutions' service and is aimed at all industries. It allows users to explore virutal reality design and scenario testing for new-build or redeveloped depots.
Thorworld inflatable dock seals help cut energy bills
With continuing concern regarding high energy prices, more and more companies are looking to cut the cost of their fuel bills. And, according to John Meale, managing director of Thorworld Industries Ltd , one of the first places to achieve energy savings is in the loading bay - particularly if you operate an ambient or temperature controlled building such as a cold store.
In a typical warehouse, distribution centre, large store or factory, loading bays can be in frequent use throughout a typical working day. As a result, companies can incur increased energy costs and detrimental environmental conditions as their climate control systems struggle to maintain a consistent internal temperature not only in the warehouse but other areas within the company, during loading and unloading operations when external doors are constantly opened and closed.
Irish logistics networking event to be held in April
The Fourth Irish Logistics Networking Lunch takes place at the Carlton Hotel, Dublin Airport on 3rd April 2012.
The event is organised jointly by the All Ireland Warehousing Association (AIWA) and the United Kingdom Warehousing Association (UKWA) on behalf of the International Federation of Warehousing Logistics Associations (IFWLA) and the Confederation Europeene de l’Entreposage et de la Logistique (CEEL) and is supported by CILT (Ireland).
Union completes third installation for tool company
Union Industries, one of the UK leading manufacturers of industrial rapid roll high speed doors, has assisted Jedburgh-based LS Starrett in its ongoing energy saving commitment by installing another fast acting door on the Starrett site.
The Leeds-based roller door specialist has completed the third installation of a Bulldoor at the precision tool manufacturer's factory to help reduce energy consumption and to maintain more consistent internal building temperatures on the site.
IMHX exhibitors to benefit from increased market buoyancy
With the CBI’s most recent business surveys showing improvement in manufacturing order books, stabilisation in retail sales and continued growth in e-commerce, the green shoots in Britain’s economy seem to be emerging at last.
Coming hot on the heels of the latest statistics from the British Industrial Truck Association (BITA) – whose 78 members account for over 90% of all new forklifts procured each year in the UK – the intralogistics sector has much to be positive about. Overall forklift sales increased by an encouraging 20% in 2011 compared to 2010, with powered pallet trucks the category showing the strongest improvement (50% year-on-year) and engine counterbalance trucks accounting for more than a third of all sales.
