Advanced Supply Chain operations centre opens in Leeds

Advanced Supply Chain has opened a new 200,000 square feet operations centre in Birstall, Leeds.

The opening follows an increase in demand from its freight forwarding and clothing manufacturing customers.

"Advanced Supply Chain is experiencing a huge demand from the UK clothing sector for pre-retailing operations in the UK," explained general manager Jane Marshall.

"This, combined with a requirement for additional warehousing for new freight forwarding customers, which has occurred as a result of the Sinotrans partnership, means that our new Leeds facility will be run as an additional operations centre alongside our main pre retail site in Holmfield, Halifax.”

The site was initially intended as an overspill storage facility for existing customers but increased demand has changed the role of the site to that of an operations centre.

The company hopes to create 150 new jobs at the centre in the next 12 months, and last month also revealed details of a three-year warehousing and distribution contract with clothing and equipment retailer GO Outdoors.
